It’s funny how we only seem to hear the nightmare stories about “what went wrong” and “what a mess” building my new home was. But we’re here to let assure you that our experience and process will not lead you down any of those scary roads!
Everybody reacts differently when it comes to planning and living through the design and build of a new home. It is one of the most exciting projects you will ever be involved with. There are many, many details to building your new home…and it takes time to plan and build your new home safely and correctly. You might find some of these ideas a useful resource during the process.
Charlotte new home builder and Charlotte new home construction are two services that The Charlotte Remodeling Company embraces as we have been remodeling and building homes across Charlotte for 32 years since 1978!
#1: Take Your Time
Building a house takes months, and then fine tuning it takes years. There are many variables to coordinate in building a house. Each one represents an opportunity for delay that is beyond any
one’s control: weather, city inspectors, change orders, etc. Understand up front that the timetable is just a guesstimate, and you’ll avoid unnecessary stress! We help with this by communicating with you often so you can anticipate any possible schedule changes.
#2: Guard Your Budget
A project this large is likely to creep over budget and cause you stress. Plan a small contingency fund for errors into your budgeting. However, also be aware of the cost of every decision you make. If you budgeted for laminate countertops but go with granite after seeing the kitchen roughed in, you’ve gone over budget. When asked to make decisions on the construction site, always ask about the cost! And we pride ourselves with keeping you informed about costs and budgets. We know that cost is important to you and we understand that “surprises” of this type are not what you look forward to!
The Charlotte Remodeling Company builds new homes and remodels existing homes with great attention to design, detail and craftsmanship beyond the norm!
#3: There’s Light at the End of the Tunnel
One stress reliever in building a house is that it can’t go on forever! Eventually, the house will be done, and your General Contractor will go away. Focus on that light at the end of the tunnel when you’re feeling overwhelmed. Keep in mind all of the new memories and good times that you and your family will have in your new home!
#4: Visit the Jobsite Often
When you take the time to “stop by” the job site and see the various projects that are occurring, it gives you a sense of exactly what it takes to build your new home. We encourage it! Also, you receive an education on the insides and infrastructure of your home…”the guts.” But this is really the only time you ever get a peek at your ho
me’s infrastructure, so it’s smart to see it before everything is enclosed!
If you are thinking about building a new Charlotte home or remodeling your existing Charlotte home call master carpenter Charles Brown and The Charlotte Home Remodeling Company because we have been remodeling and building Charlotte homes for 32 years since 1978!
#5: Keep a Scrapbook
Every time you see something in a book or magazine, clip it out and keep it. Make a new “Favorites” folder in your web browser of designs and photos you see on the web. And make it a point to stop by the job site and snap some photos of the process and progress. It is so much easier to swap items and exchange items during the building process then afterward! And your book of photos and clippings can help you build the perfect house.
